Pointless Exercise

Every so often, I like to leave my pieces in sketch form so you can see the “bones.”

When making a curved piece like this, I sketch out the top curve first, then the bottom curve.

Next I measure a point out from the center of the top line… about a half inch in this piece.

Move your ruler along the curve, making tiny marks ½ inch above the curve. Join the points to create the cap height guideline.

Repeat for the bottom curve.
