Happy Place

How to:

1
In my experience, people are appreciative of uplifting chalk art. However, I have a spray bottle full of water in my kit, just in case I’m asked to remove it.

2
Also included in my kit: sidewalk chalk & chalkboard chalk (both white and colored), knee pads (trust me, you’ll ruin your jeans if you don’t wear them), a handheld dishwashing brush with nylon bristles (for erasing), and a package of wet wipes (to clean my hands, and also to lean on with my non-drawing hand when the pavement is hot). I keep all of this in a 12×12 clear case with hinged lid.

3
I like to add chalk art to interesting surfaces– wood, asphalt, brick, concrete, stone, etc. I use regular sidewalk chalk, as it’s cheap and I go through it quickly.

4
When working with chalk on a rough surface, it’s hard to get detail, so you’ll need to go big in order for your words to be legible.
