Doodled Ornaments

Doodled Ornaments are a fun holiday craft for both kids and adults. Turn inexpensive glass ornaments into something unique with acrylic paint and Pentouch markers.

Tips:

1
You’ll need clear glass ornaments for this project. You can find these almost anywhere during the holidays, including most dollar stores.

2
You’ll also need acrylic paint. I have a few different brands, but for this project, cheaper is better. The less expensive brands are thinner and spread more easily, so save some money and pick the one with the lowest price tag.

3
You may find it helpful to have an empty egg carton to hold the ornaments as you work.

How to:
made with
egg carton (Optional)
plastic drinking straws (Optional)

1
Begin by removing the cover on the top of the ornament.

2
Pour a bit of paint into the ornament. Try not to get any on the outside of the ornament. Depending on the size of your paint bottle’s spout and your ornament’s opening, you may also find it helpful to have a plastic straw that can be used as a funnel.

3
I want only about half of the ornament to be painted, because I think it adds interesting dimension to be able to see through to the other side. So I’m rolling my ornament to distribute the paint along the areas I want covered.

4
If you get any air bubbles, insert the straw or a toothpick to pop them.

5
Then replace the ornament’s top.

Doodling on the Ornaments

6
You may want to try sketching out some doodles on paper before you draw them on your ornaments. I chose simple mod designs paired with bright paint.

7
Doodle designs using a  Pentouch marker.

You could also personalize these ornaments with the current year, or names of family members.  You could journal favorite memories and add new ones each Christmas.
