Pinwheel Hairclip

Make a cute pinwheel hairclip that’s perfect for summer.

How to:
made with
2 squares cotton fabric
double-sided fusible webbing (Wonder Under)
buttons

1
You’ll need two squares of fabric as well as a square of double-sided fusible webbing, such as Wonder-Under. You can buy this at any store that sells fabric.

2
Put one fabric square face down, and lay the fusible webbing on top of it, with the rough side against the fabric. Iron on medium heat without steam.  Keep the iron moving for a minute or so. Then allow the fabric to cool.

3
Peel the paper backing from the fabric. The fabric should feel waxy. If it feels fuzzy, you need to iron it longer.

4
Lay the other fabric square face-up on top of the first. Iron the fabrics together. Then trim any mismatched edges, as those could fray.

5
Now cut inward from each of the four corners, stopping about a half inch away from the center.

6
Thread a needle and knot the end of the thread. Poke the needle through the center of your square. Then, turn down one corner of each flap to the center and pierce it with the needle.

7
Now poke the needle through a button, and sew the button in place with several tight stitches and a knot.

8
Use a hot glue gun to attach an an alligator clip or barrette to the back of the pinwheel. Hold the clip open while the hot glue cools.

9
Finally, cut a scrap of fabric and glue this in between the clip’s prongs to help secure the clip.
