Felt Flower Monogram

Learn to make a batch of pretty felt flowers for wreaths, hair clips, monograms, and more!

How to:

1
I’m filling a paper mache letter with handmade felt flowers. I’m starting by removing the front of the paper mache letter with a craft knife. (Use caution as the blade is very sharp. Always cut away from your body.) Remove the front panel and any inserts.

Felt Rosette

2
Let’s start with a rosette.  Cut a sheet of craft felt in half. Round off the edges to make a circle.

3
Cut an inward spiral about 1 ½ inches deep.

4
Next trim the outer edge into a scallop shape.

5
Cut a circle about 2 ½ inches big for the backing. (Use the same color felt as the backing.)

6
Cut a double leaf from green felt.

7
Now we’re ready to assemble the rosette. Starting from the center of the spiral, wrap the felt around to create petals. Pinch the center of the flower as you roll.  Add a dab of hot glue to secure.

8
Add a bit of hot glue to the back and attach the leaves.

9
Then add hot glue to the small circle and press to the back of the flower.

10
I’m also going to add a stamen to the center of the flower. Choose another color of felt, and cut a rectangle about 1 x 2 inches.

11
Fringe both short ends, then twist the rectangle and fold fold in half.

12
Add a dab of hot glue to the center of the rosette, and press the stamen in the center.

Felt Chrysanthemum

1
This next flower looks like a Chrysanthemum. Start by cutting down the length of the felt, making a strip that’s about 2 ½ inches wide.

2
Add a line of hot glue on one long side of the strip. Fold in half lengthwise and press to adhere.

3
Cut a row of diagonal slits along the folded edge of the strip.

4
Cut a small circle for the backing, and some leaves. I’m feathering the sides of these leaves.

5
Roll the strip and secure the end with hot glue.

6
Add the leaf and the backing.

Play around with different color combinations, then use hot glue to add the flowers to the interior of the paper mache letter.
