Easy Baby Bib

Do you have a little fabric leftover from making a baby blanket?  Make a matching bib in no time!

How to:

1
Print off and cut out the baby bib template. Put a piece of flannel face-down and lay the template on top.  Trace with a pencil or marking pen.

2
Lay that piece of flannel on top of the other piece, right-sides together.  Pin fabrics together inside the pencil markings.  Cut out fabrics.

3
Unpin fabrics.  Sew a piece of Velcro on top of the left neck tab on one piece of flannel.  Then repeat on the OTHER piece of fabric, sewing the coordinating Velcro piece onto the left neck tab.

4
Re-pin fabrics, right sides together.  Sew around perimeter, leaving a 2-inch hole for turning inside out.

5
Turn bib right side out, using the eraser end of a pencil to poke out seams.

6
Stitch hole closed.  Top stitch around the perimeter of the bib.

Note: I know the neck hole looks tiny, but the baby in this photos is 16 months old– it won’t be too small!

what size is the bib template suppose to be

    • says

It’s about 8×10 inches… margins are already included, so you don’t have to change your printer settings.

Does it have to be flannel? Can i use cotton?

    • says

You can use cotton, but it isn’t as absorbent as flannel. Also, I like to use flannel because it’s softer when wiping baby’s mouth.

wheres the template at because its not on here for me

  8. Nice animal design for a bib. I suggest the use of snap buttons for closure as the velcro get pulled off easily once the baby gets stronger.

Great pattern…but where is the template ??? Couldn’t find it.

The link to the template is right above the supplies list (which is on a blue ribbon shaped background).

If you add the velcro before you turn it, wouldn’t it be on the inside? I’ve made other bibs (my own design) and had to add the velcro last.
